Marriage and Relationship Counseling

Marriage and relationships, of all types, can be sources of great joy or large frustrations/sorrows.  Relationship or marriage counseling for marriage strives to meet 5 goals:

  1. Helps alter how the individuals view/approach the relationship by changing the “blame game” into a solution-focused interaction and increase objectivity of the situation(s) causing the challenges.
  2. Addresses dysfunctional behaviors:  Action vs Reaction, Communication vs Argument; therefore reducing the defensiveness of each individual.
  3. Increases emotional connections and decreases individual avoidance or distancing.
  4. Enhances the 3 C’s:  closeness, communication, and commitment. By fostering feelings of  closeness, implementing effective communication, and re-igniting a commitment to the relationship.
  5. Builds individual and couple resilience through acknowledging strengths vs focusing on weaknesses.
